Dr. Renner is a true born and raised Humboldt County local. Raised on the family dairy, she set her goals on veterinary medicine at an early age. She graduated from U.C. Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, spent a few years in Orland then returned home to help with the family dairy business. She joined our staff in 2008.

Jennifer stays busy volunteering as a firefighter in Loleta and is a member of Fortuna Rotary.

Dr. Flores graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. He practiced in the North Coast for a year before returning to Davis to complete a residency in herd health and comparative reproduction. He also earned a master’s in preventative veterinary medicine.

Dr. Flores returned to Humboldt County in 2014. He had long dreamed of being a mixed animal veterinarian in a place like the Eel River Valley, and he is committed to continuing the legacy of excellent care for animals of all sizes at Ferndale and Fortuna Veterinary.

Dr. Flores and his wife, Jennifer, became practice owners in September 2016. That same month, they became the proud parents of baby Benjamin. They enjoy spending time with family and taking advantage of the natural beauty of California’s North Coast.

Dr. Schroer grew up in Delaware where she completed her undergraduate degree in animal science. She moved to California in 1993 to attend graduate school at UC Davis. After completing a master’s degree in physiology in 1996, she spent two years working in a small community in Ecuador as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Following this great adventure, she came back to California and entered veterinary school at UC Davis.

Dr. Schroer began her career as a veterinarian at Ferndale Veterinary in 2003. Four years later, she moved to Sonoma County and spent 10 years working in both large animal and small animal practices. She eventually returned to Humboldt County, where she is very happy to get back to both small-town life and mixed animal practice.

Dr. Schroer spends much of her free time exploring backroads and trails on her bicycle. She shares her home with a feisty orange cat named Ginger.
